The overall aim of the EACA 2018
The purpose of this conference is to create a platform for scholars, students, communication experts, media professionals and other stakeholders in politics, communication and journalism to establish and diagnose the role of media in democratic processes both as a means, and an actor to democratic processes in any country. The role and place of the media are critical to strengthen democracies in East Africa in particular, and by extension Africa and the world. The conference will be an opportunity for free exchange of ideas on the key issues and challenges affecting the role of media in regard to democracy in the region and beyond.
The East African Communication Association (EACA) was established in 2011. It serves as a platform for media and communication researchers, scholars, academicians, policy makers, regulators and media practitioners (journalists and editors) in the East African Community (EAC) and beyond, to share research findings in these fields and to chart ways of improving the field and the industry.
